Donkey Kong Wall

One day, as I was exploring the outskirts of the vintage digital game world—a favorite pastime of mine—I stumbled upon a scene etched into my childhood memories: the vibrant steel beams of Donkey Kong. It got me wondering, what happens to these iconic video game props when they’re retired? Do they get tucked away in a forgotten corner of the digital world, or do they simply fade into obscurity?

The steel beams from Donkey Kong have served their purpose, but as a designer, I couldn’t ignore their timeless appeal. I began to imagine how Mario, now a legend beyond his plumbing days, might give these relics a second life. After all, he probably wouldn’t want old, rusty beams in his place, but he’d definitely appreciate a stylish, iconic display for his awards and trophies.

So, I created the Donkey Kong Wall—strong, sleek, and full of character. This modular wall is constructed from individual sections, each crafted from extruded aluminum, acrylic pixels, and toughened glass tops. The custom steel mounts can support up to 60 pounds, making this wall as functional as it is nostalgic.

So, Mario… sit back with your Princess on that fancy couch of yours and enjoy the view!
