Ruffwear reached out to me to redesign the Huckama toy, and this is my approach to upgrading it.

Building on the original form factor that many people love, I aimed to enhance its functionality with a more exaggerated shape. The five rounded edges are designed to make the ball bounce unpredictably, engaging the pet’s sense of direction and encouraging active play. Instead of openings at each corner, I incorporated 4mm-wide cutouts along the surface, adding a puzzle element for the dog to retrieve treats, which can be placed through a 15mm top opening. These cutouts also provide a gentle gum massage, promoting dental health. By eliminating end openings, the toy now floats in water, making it versatile for both land and water play.
